The opportunities for economic development offered by energy efficiency interventions was the main subject of the workshop organized by CRES in the framework of the Covenant of Mayors, in Thessalonica, Greece.
All 16 in the first wind park for wind power plants located in Ranavec – Bogdanci are fully completed and the activities for its connection to the electricity network MEPSO are currently in full swing. As they say of “Macedonian Power Plants” (ELEM) soon this capital power plant, the first of its kind in the country will be ready to enter trial production of electricity and regular production of so-called green energy at the end of May or early June.
This summer, 18 South Transdanubian municipalities joined the Covenant of Mayors, agreeing on creating their local Sustainable Energy Action Plans. Energiaklub Cilmate Policy Institute, as an Associated Partner of the Covenant of Mayors, assisted and supported the municipalities in the accession process.
Almost all municipalities across the country were implementing the second national campaign "Macedonia without waste 2013" as part of a global action "Lets'do it! World 2013", supported by the European Parliament, which includes 107 countries worldwide. The main message in this year event was that the waste will not go away by itself, but requires joint and coordinated action, to encourage civil activism and awareness and habits of proper waste management.
