Municipalities and Energy

Municipalities and Energy: An alternative approach to the Economic Crisis”

The Centre for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving and the Union of Municipalities of Attica organized a conference under the auspices of the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece on Monday, 1st April 2013.

The conference which was organized in the framework of the European projects Energy for Mayors, ZeroCO2, ENERMED and Green Twinning was mainly addressed to representatives of local authorities in Greece.

Local governments play a leading role in mitigating the effects of climate change having in mind that about 80% of energy consumption and CO2 emissions are associated to the urban activity. The above projects aimed to provide to municipalities resources, technical support and networking to meet energy and environmental commitments.

The programme included presentations on the above projects themselves, goals, results etc, experience from the municipalities on SEAPs, financial opportunities and instruments for municipalities, etc. All event presentations in Greek are on www.cres.gr. More information about the projects and the event can be found on the separate projects websites.
